California Academy of the Arts: Promoting Culture and Dance

At the California Academy of the Arts (CALIACA), the vibrant traditions of Ballet Folklorico come alive, celebrating the rich cultural heritage through captivating dance moves, colorful costumes, and artistic expression. Situated in El Monte, California, CALIACA is home to the Ballet Folklorico Rey Coliman (BFRC) Company, a professional Folklorico dance company known for its dedication to preserving and showcasing the essence of Mexican culture.

The BFRC Company holds classes for practice every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM under the expert instruction of Maestro Elias Roldan. Students aged 16 an older are welcome to join auditions for the BFRC Company, offering them an opportunity to immerse themselves in the artistry and passion of Folklorico dance.

At CALIACA, our mission is to promote positive physical health, build self-esteem, and educate dancers of all ages in the art of cultural dance. Through our Ballet Folklorico program, we not only nurture artistic talent but also create job opportunities for young artists and staff, empowering them to contribute to the arts community. Our inclusive and nurturing environment fosters personal growth, cultural appreciation, and a lifelong love for the arts, enhancing overall well-being and empowering individuals to thrive.
