Ballet folklórico is celebration, yes—but it’s also responsibility. It’s history and identity brought to life through rhythm, precision, and corazón. When we dance, we don’t just perform. We honor voices that came before us, and we carry their stories forward—together.

We offer two age-based pathways. If you’re not sure which is the best fit, don’t worry—submit your audition and we’ll guide you with clarity and kindness.
The Academy is where dancers build strong folklórico foundations in a supportive, structured environment—learning not only choreography, but the meaning and discipline that give the dance its power.
In Academy, dancers build:
Strong folklórico fundamentals (posture, footwork, musicality)
Confidence through consistency and progress
Ensemble skills—moving with unity, timing, and intention
Cultural understanding and respectful representation
Pride, discipline, and belonging—inside and outside the studio
Company is for dancers ready for deeper commitment and performance responsibility—training with high standards, moving as one ensemble, and representing our heritage with pride and professionalism.
In Company, dancers build:
Advanced technique, stamina, and stage presence
Precision and unity as an ensemble
Repertoire growth across regional styles (as taught within the program)
Leadership, accountability, and cultural responsibility
Confidence shaped by rehearsal, teamwork, and performance readiness
Some seasons may include additional performance opportunities, including travel, depending on program needs.
We’re looking for commitment, coachability, rhythm, and respect for the art form. Bring your focus—and your corazón.
Your video should include:
Quick introduction (30–45 seconds)
Share your name, age, and a little about your dance background (or tell us you’re new—everyone starts somewhere).
Folklórico routine (about 2 minutes)
Show your technique, timing, energy, posture, and performance presence.
Optional technique moment (15–30 seconds)
If you’d like, add a short clip highlighting a strength: clear footwork, turns, coordination, or skirt work.
Filming tips (to help you shine):
Keep your full body in frame (head to toe)
Use good lighting and a steady camera
Choose music with a clear rhythm
Wear fitted dance attire so we can see your technique clearly
If you have folklórico shoes/boots, feel free to use them (not required to submit)

BFRC Academy: ages 13–15
BFRC Company: ages 16+
Experience is welcome, but not required. We also look for rhythm, commitment, coachability, and a willingness to learn with respect.
