Find Your Class. Find Your People.

Welcome to California Academy of the Arts (CALIACA)—a Montebello home for dance where culture, craft, and community move as one. In a few guided steps, we’ll help you choose the right class, the right program, and the right next step—so you can start with confidence.

New to dance, returning after time away, or training with big goals—you belong here.

A clear path to your first step

Choose your age group, choose your pathway, choose your experience level—then we’ll guide you to the best next step.

Most classes are open for a trial. Trials are booked through Studio Pro (registration is required).
BFRC Teen and Adult begin with an audition/assessment so we can place you with care and set you up to thrive.

Step 1: Who’s dancing?

Choose the dancer’s age group. If you’re between ages, pick the closest match—we’ll confirm placement together.

Tiny Movers
(Ages 3–5)

Playful foundations, big smiles, brave first steps.

Youth
(Ages 6–10)

Basics that build strength, rhythm, and confidence.

Teen
(Ages 11–17)

Training with purpose—technique, style, and personal growth.

Adult
(18+)

Beginner-friendly options and skill-building at every stage of life.

Step 2: Choose your pathway at CALIACA

One academy. Two beautiful doorways into dance—each with its own heartbeat.

  • Progress-focused teaching with supportive challenge

Step 3 (BFRC): What’s your experience level?

New to Dance

First class or fresh start—beginners are truly welcome.

Some Experience

You’ve trained before and want consistent growth.

Performance Track

You’re ready for a faster pace and deeper technique.

Your next step: Book a BFRC Trial Class

You’re stepping into something sacred and strong—stories carried through rhythm, posture, footwork, and corazón. Come feel what it means to dance as part of an ensemble that honors heritage and rises together.

What to expect:

  • Technique foundations: posture, footwork, timing, and musicality

  • A welcoming, structured environment rooted in respect

  • Guidance on level and next steps after your trial

Your next step: Schedule a BFRC Audition/Assessment

In Ballet Folklórico Rey Colimán, our teen and adult dancers train with disciplined technique and unity—because when we step onto the stage, we represent something bigger than ourselves. An audition/assessment helps us place you where you’ll feel challenged, supported, and ready to grow with the ensemble.

What happens in an audition/assessment:

  • A guided look at fundamentals (rhythm, coordination, posture, footwork)

  • Placement recommendations that fit your experience and the group’s needs

  • Next-step clarity: rehearsals, expectations, and how the season flows

No matter your background, we meet you with respect and clear guidance—so your growth feels exciting, not intimidating.

Step 3 (FADS): What’s your experience level?

New to Dance

What to expect:

  • A supportive class environment with high standards and kind coaching

  • Fundamentals + musicality + room to develop your individual style

  • Clear next steps after your trial so you always know where you’re headed
